Access Control Options Tailored to Your Business
Access control solutions are an effective way to restrict or allow access to places or resources. They can provide different levels of permissions based on specific needs or requirements (time of day, employee permissions).
Custom Card Canada offers a wide variety of options from industry leaders to meet our customers’ access control needs and requirements.
Simply stated, access control systems have many applications to keep people and places safer. They can also help businesses be more organized and efficient.
Choosing the right access control solution can have many benefits and advantages.
Practical Uses for Access Control Systems
One of the first questions our customers ask about our access control options is what kinds of businesses need or would benefit from an access control system? Here are some common ways our customers use access control solutions in a variety of industries:
- Attendance tracking
- Time tracking (sign in/sign out for hourly or non-salary employees)
- Resource tracking (photocopier use)
- Memberships (24 hour facilities)
- Borrowing materials (education facilities, libraries)
- Restricting access (based on user permissions to certain areas)
How do Access Control Solutions Work?
To achieve the desired result, such as entering an area or being able to print, the employee must have their access card programmed and added to the software by an administrator to be granted access. If these conditions have been met, the user can place the card in front of the reader to gain access.
Typically, most access control systems have a reader at the entry point monitored by a central database/controller that is linked to a building management software.
In the event an access card is lost or stolen, an administrator can immediately disable a card to restrict user permissions (and safeguard the facility or resource).
